Principal Product Designer
Responsibilities
- 🔧 Have design responsibility for a complete product or group of products.
- 🔍 Create forward-thinking, quality deliverables - including but not limited to user/task flows, wireframes, prototypes, and annotations - for complex issues and systems, and mentor other team members to do the same.
- 🧪 Develop user testing strategy and mentor product designers on a user testing framework.
- 🤝 Partner with team members in developing and evolving the visual language, interaction patterns and design system for Vertafore’s products and platforms, incorporating Vertafore’s brand and voice.
- 🎨 Plan and enable design studios, design critiques and other design ideation activities.
- 🗣️ Engage in product definition discussions with Product Managers and Product Owners to identify user needs.
- 🔄 Participate in design reviews, mentoring and learning from other product designers.
- 🤝 Partner with and support team members in conducting user discovery, concept validation, and usability testing.
- 🤝 Build amicable, productive, trusting relationships with partners and team members.
- 📋 Other duties as assigned
Skills

- You are able to contribute to multiple projects (at various stages) concurrently, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- You value rapid prototyping as a design method and are fluent in both paper and digital prototyping.
- You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise with more junior team members by providing design guidance and coaching.
- You can collaborate, negotiate, weighing trade-offs between user impact and levels of effort.
- You thrive on working as a part of a collaborative team, both giving and receiving feedback.
- You have experience with creating and maintaining design systems and/or pattern libraries.

Qualifications
- You have 7+ years of professional experience doing end-to-end UX and UI design in an agency or software setting.
- Your wealth of expertise is demonstrated by a compelling portfolio that showcases your problem framing, research, problem solving, and visualization skills.
- You demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and an ability to persuasively articulate design rationale.
- You are adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Your working style demonstrates respect, initiative, ownership, transparency, and accountability.
- You have demonstrated proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar design tools.
- You have experience in an agile software environment.
