UI/UX Designer

Expatiate Communications is a leader in special education, redefining the way special education programs are designed and delivered. By leveraging data and technology, we focus on improving academic outcomes and providing equitable access to all students. We develop and implement innovative and sustainable special education programs for Education Agencies, charter schools, families, schools, districts, and County Offices of Education.

Responsibilities

  • The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for building a clean and effective user experience for our customers
  • By working cross-functionally, this candidate will understand the needs of the product management, engineering, and business stakeholders and will be able to build solutions that fit those needs
  • Design Standards: Ensure that established design standards are consistently and appropriately applied within design work
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with product management, engineering, and business stakeholders to understand needs and build solutions
  • Front-End Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement responsive and interactive user interfaces that align with design mockups
  • Documentation and Prototyping: Develop and present documentation, user flows, annotated wireframes, and interactive prototypes
  • User Testing: Leverage user testing to make product improvements and refine design solutions
  • Design Systems and Agile Methodologies: Implement design systems and work within agile methodologies to iterate and improve designs
  • Innovative Design: Take risks in design, push boundaries, and create impactful and memorable user experiences
  • Design System Management: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a design system to ensure consistency across products and platforms
  • Collaboration with Developers: Work closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs and resolve any design-related issues during development
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX design to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines effectively
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate design concepts, rationale, and recommendations to stakeholders and gather feedback for iterative improvements

Skills

  • Tool Proficiency: Utilize Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, and other prototyping tools effectively
  • User-Centric Design: Apply user research methodologies like Customer Journey Mapping and Jobs To Be Done theory to inform design strategy and business needs
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX design to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in UI/UX design
  • Proficiency in visual design and wireframing tools
  • Experience in designing web apps, with a strong passion for typography, style, and understanding of A/B testing and user testing
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript
  • Knowledge of web standards and a data-informed design philosophy

Benefits

  • 💰 Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000/yr DOE
