Interaction Designer

Responsibilities:

  • This position requires working in CST time and occasional travel for workshops or project-specific needs
  • Visualize ideas using professional design tools, sticky notes, sketch boards, or whiteboards to rapidly iterate through ideation stages
  • Initiate and respond to ideas for innovation and improvements based on research, analysis, and competitive reviews
  • Identify user needs and business requirements to inform design decisions
  • Ensure digital customer touchpoints align with user experience and brand standards
  • Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging interactions for digital products
  • Drive the design of navigation schemes, patterns, components, and templates to ensure a consistent and dynamic customer experience
  • Create low and high-fidelity interactive prototypes using a rapid, iterative, and collaborative process
  • Collaborate with usability researchers to design test plans and iterate designs based on user testing findings
  • Create detailed design specifications, including process flows, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, and prototypes
  • Present design work to teams and executives for review and feedback
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders throughout the design process
  • Respond to day-to-day questions from developers, product managers, and project managers during implementation
  • Work with QA to identify, document, and verify bug fixes
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers

Skills:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years of professional UX design experience required; 8+ years preferred
  • Solid grasp of web design principles and a good understanding of front-end web technologies
  • Excellent understanding of user experience design for web, mobile, and touch devices
  • Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity
  • Proficiency in Figma and other related design software
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary, collaborative teams
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Experience writing detailed design specifications for developers
  • Self-starter with the ability to define scope and schedules even with unclear requirements
  • Proven ability to set design direction and collaborate with other designers

Qualifications:

  • This role is ideal for someone who excels in prototyping and interaction design or has strong experience as a production designer for dashboard-heavy, account management, and report-heavy platforms
  • The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing the digital customer experience and will work in a hybrid model, with occasional in-office requirements in Chicago or Houston
