Senior UX Designer
Responsibilities
- In this role, you will work with our business owners, central brand team, marketing team, software developers, project managers, and product managers to develop the next iterations of our public facing websites
- Creating prototypes with interactive transitions, visual specs, and other artifacts to communicate design direction
- Utilizing user-centered design methods (such as user research, prototyping, and other design thinking) in day-to-day work to inform design decisions
- Expressing the Morningstar brand and coaching the team on how to achieve those outcomes
- Participating in greater design efforts, such as contributing to the Morningstar Design System
- Drive the discovery process and participate in requirements gathering exercises to identify business needs and inform design decisions
- Partner with the product owner and engineering team to support the end-to-end vision of the product
- Demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills, including effectively managing expectations and obtaining agreement on key objectives
- Edit and generate clear and concise labels, prompts, and other messaging copy that guides the user and meets business needs
- Persuade and lead others to invest in quality design and demonstrate the value of doing it right
- Apply creativity, logic, and critical thinking in new situations to find the best solution while continuously striving to find better ways of doing things
Qualifications
- Turning complex information into usable, engaging, and easy-to-understand design experiences and presenting multiple concepts for consideration
- Making expert-level decisions around typography, composition, color, information hierarchies, and data visualization
- Articulating design decisions to peers, engineering teams, and stakeholders
- Participating in visual QA to ensure the final implementation matches your design
- Being a self-directed critical thinker, capable of and comfortable working independently
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent experience/training in the graphic arts
- At least 5 years of experience designing for software, web, and/or digital products
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with distributed teams
